The Cambridge Dictionary has added 3,200 new words and phrases this year to the English lexicon, among them “the ick” and “boop.” It defines “the ick” as “a sudden feeling that you dislike some people or some things or are no longer attracted to them because of something they do,” and describes “boop” as “a gentle hit or touch” on the nose or head as a joke or to indicate affection.
