What should have been the correct tense?
Many overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) (
are still trying
,
still try
) to overcome their homesickness even though they have been living for many years in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)
?

I would automatically go for the verb in the present continuous tense ''are still trying to overcome.''
