Redundant use of all and apiece

Hi Sir, i always watch sports action on tv. Very often, i hear sports commentator say, the score is now tied at 8 all; it is a see-saw battle, both teams are again on deadlock at 89 apiece. 'All' and 'apiece' are redundant, right, Mr. Carillo?
