The problem is that kat isn't a student at all and isn't even female. And courage really has got nothing to do with the kind of questions he asks. It's simple vainglory. He knows the answers beforehand; using false pretenses, he asks questions only so he can find fault with a particular usage and show that he knows better. As far as we can gather from the Forum records, he's an Australian in late middle age who imagines himself much more knowledgeable about the English language than any nonnative English speaker anywhere on this planet, and he will move heaven and earth to prove this--including bending genders any which way and assuming multiple Forum user identities to form a mutually reinforcing cabal of discussants. This is why the Forum decided to impose a perpetual ban on this fellow's original username and several other usernames that he had used to support his thinking and to flame other Forum members who'd disagree with him. In short, he isn't really a knowledge-seeker but an incorrigible troublemaker bordering on the pathological.

This is why I hope and pray that you won't have a student like kat ever!
