Question e-mailed to me by Miss Lheng M. (May 25, 2015):

Hi Sir!

You know, I have always wondered which is correct, resulting in (homicide, murder, etc.) or resulting to xxx?

Thank you and warmest regards!

Lheng

My reply to Lheng:

Dear Lheng,

I’m delighted to hear from you after all these years. I trust that you're doing well in your work and in your career.

As to your question about the usage of “resulting in.../resulting to...”, definitely the correct usage is ”resulting in...” I am sharing with you my answer to a question about that particular usage by a newspaper columnist-friend a few years back. I posted it in Jose Carillo's English Forum under the heading “An SOS on the usage of ‘resulting in’ vs. ‘resulting to.’” Simply click the link. I'm sure you'll find the discussion not only very enlightening but also very interesting.

Good night and have a great week ahead!
