The Lounge has just opened as an expanded free-talk section!
« on: January 21, 2010, 11:08:58 PM »
We are pleased to announce that the Forum has just the opened The Lounge as a separate and expanded free-talk section. You can post anything there about any topic outside English grammar and usage. Wide-ranging discussions and debates are allowed in The Lounge subject only to the condition that the subjects are not unlawful, obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, and threatening. So if you have any non-grammar thought or idea you’d like to share, make The Lounge the sounding board for it now! Let your fellow Forum members help you germinate the seed of that idea if it’s a good one—or terminate it if it turns out to be otherwise.

To get the expanded Lounge started, we have just moved from here to there the very lively discussions that developed when the Forum provided a link to “A Damaged Culture: A New Philippines?”, an article written by James Fallows for the Atlantic Monthly way back in 1987. It’s a must-read for Filipinos who want to know how they are seen through foreign eyes, and who want to figure out what has changed in the national situation between now and 22 years ago.
