This is what my Merriam-Webster's 11th Collegiate Dictionary says about "rimming":

rim

Date:1621

transitive verb
1 : to run around the rim of  <putts that rim the cup>
2 : to serve as a rim for  : BORDER  <cliffs rimming the camp>

First time I heard about the term, fimbriae. Check out these two sites:

They could give you an initial idea of what gimp masks are.

Use and Misuse / A gimp mask.

Does anyone in this language forum know a gimp mask?

I had frequently seen and heard prior to this post. Insofar as I know, it is apparent that those masks must irrefutably be get-up applied in S&M play or more or less bondage & discipline. Further, principally, major gimps should be downcast for a pot of gold throughout paraphilia, such as bondage & discipline above.
However, I had not checked them out, regardless of which I had constantly been all agog for the lexicon "a gimp mask."

Thence, if anyone in this language forum has any spot-on clues about them, please apprise me of them.
