Title: count and non-count nouns
Post by: Lyndon Tidlos Gabato on October 26, 2016, 09:52:27 AM
Hello Joe Carillo,

May I know if the word "percent" a countable noun or not?
Someone asked me if 10% is a countable noun and I really cannot answer it correctly.
How about the word hundred or thousand or million?
For example, we say, "I counted to three hundred last night." We don't say, "I counted to three hundreds." I know that we say "20% of the computers are old" and "20% of the chairs are made of wood" but then we are dealing with the computers and the chairs.

Please enlighten me.
Thank you so much in advance.

Lyndon, I've been out of my work desk most of the time for several days now but I'll answer your question as soon as I get back. I'm scheduling it for my November 12 column in The Manila Times, but I'll send you the material in advance by e-mail sometime soon. My apologies for the delay.
