Title: a new things? or new things?

Hi Joe,

Someone wrote this on facebook.

"Come out to your shell and discover a new things."

Is this correct?

This is  my guess below?

"Come out from your shell and discover new things."

I replaced 'to' with 'from'
And removed 'a'
Am I correct?

It should be "Come out OF your shell and discover new things."

It's and idiomatic expression.

Is 'from' acceptable? or only 'of' ?

I am both: a teacher and a language enthusiast. ☺

I can't see any problem in using "from" but it sounds strange to my ears. if I were you, I would stick to the preposition used in the idiomatic expression so as not to stir an argument and be frowned upon. ☺

Let's wait for sir Joe. He may be able to shed light on this usage. ☺

Me, I'm just an enthusiast but English is now my new addiction.

Kung baga sa tagalog "Hinde ko tatantanan and English!' lol
