Post by: Joe Carillo on May 26, 2015, 08:25:01 AM
Question e-mailed to me by Miss Lheng M. (May 25, 2015):

Hi Sir!

You know, I have always wondered which is correct, resulting in (homicide, murder, etc.) or resulting to xxx?

Thank you and warmest regards!

Lheng

My reply to Lheng:

Dear Lheng,

I’m delighted to hear from you after all these years. I trust that you're doing well in your work and in your career.

As to your question about the usage of “resulting in.../resulting to...”, definitely the correct usage is ”resulting in...” I am sharing with you my answer to a question about that particular usage by a newspaper columnist-friend a few years back. I posted it in Jose Carillo's English Forum under the heading “An SOS on the usage of ‘resulting in’ vs. ‘resulting to.’” (http://josecarilloforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=5821.0) Simply click the link. I'm sure you'll find the discussion not only very enlightening but also very interesting.

Good night and have a great week ahead!
