We have posted on the Forum today two intriguing, fun, and mind-blowing updates.

In Readings About Language, we have provided a link to an article in The Chronicle of Higher Education about the curious finding that contrary to conventional wisdom, multitaskers do worse than single-taskers, and another link to a Boston Globe article that reports on a major finding in psychology—that people by nature don’t want to grapple with difficult ideas and would rather think about things easy to think about.

Then, in Time Out From English Grammar, we have provided a link a to report in The New Scientist about how the brain reacts to jokes, and another link to a perky but disquieting piece in Popular Mechanics about what to do when you suddenly find your aircraft cabin gone at 35,000 feet and you have become a falling object on a 6-mile plummet back to earth.
