Title: Pinoys in UAE still coping with homesickness

What should have been the correct tense?

Many overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) (are still trying, still try) to overcome their homesickness even though they have been living for many years in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)?

I would automatically go for the verb in the present continuous tense ''are still trying to overcome.''
