Both “sports meet” and “sports meeting” are grammatically correct. However, “sports meet” is more idiomatic and specific to the act of assembling for a hunt or competitive sports.

 In my opinion I think sports meet is better to use. A meeting at which a number of athletic contests are held.   :)
