The Filipino people have spoken through the ballot
« on: May 11, 2010, 04:01:27 PM »
The 2010 Philippine national elections are over, so we have now taken down the “Who is Your Choice for President?” shingle in the Forum homepage. We are now bringing the Forum back to normal by closing the discussion boards to purely political talk and, starting next week’s edition, by resuming its total focus on English usage and language-related topics. We join the nation in congratulating the winning candidates and we hope to see all of them working as one for the betterment of the nation and its people.

The Philippines will always remain a feudalistic country, run by feudal landlords, with feudalistic minds. Whatever others think of it, it is not a democratic country. This country is a 21st century misnomer. It's hypocrisy that's embedded in the culture, hence, that feudalistic tendency to be on guard in this manner. As it is, when one member of a family runs, as in the case of the Binays, the Tingas, the Belmontes, the Aquinos, the Ampatuans and a long, long list of et al--the citizens simply allow themselves to be caught in this never-ending friendly crossfire of pretentious idealism and cunning persuasion. It is the meek that drag the country down to frivolous superstition and division, not innate intelligence. Being meek is more powerful than being independent--and these feudalistic families certainly know how to take the micky of out these citizens. No amount of good education would suffice if to convince them is muche easier than bribery itself. The Filipino psyche is unique that it tends to sway with more regularity than those banana leaves tended by poor farmers earning a measly sum of P9.50/per day....and what can we do about it  when these feudal landlords don't give a damn anyway?Materialism draws in more than good opportunism and when that happens on a big scale, we know that corruption isn't far away. ::) :P :-[ ;D

I don't think you know what you're talking about feudalistic society.

Perhaps you can elaborate on your comment about hill roberts' views on feudalism.
