You Asked Me This Question / Why are legal documents and contracts hard to understand?

Sir, I hope you can enlighten me on why legal documents and contracts use too many unnecessary words that are not direct to the point and hard to understand?

Is this a lawyer's standard procedure so he can be the only one who can interpret and make money out of it?

Most legal contracts and documents are too wordy, not direct to the point and confusing.( terrible grammar )
Is this standard practice in law? Why can't they make it simple and precise?

       Sir, I would like to know the rules regarding copyrights of book publications, I am at present coming up with some books in English Grammar , Vocabulary, Writing and Reading Comprehension, which I would like to market someday. Are there royalty free topics or pictures on the internet? Where can I find an easy guideline for book publications? How broad is the scope of plagiarism? Thank you very much.
