Hi! Happened to read the administrator's latest post entitled "The importance of pronouncing English names correctly" and was reminded of the conversations I had with two friends in college. These were memories I want to share for they could still make me smile despite news of filial love falling apart in the Philippines.
In an instance, I had talked about Chicago. I pronounced it as tsi-ka-go, turning my friend's head around to laugh at me. "Ano ka ba, it's chi-ca-go!"
Another friend grinned around the time I was trying to get past the second chapter of the Sophie's World. "It's Socrates (soc-ra-tis) and Democrates (de-mo-cra-tis), okay?," he said in between his laughs.
Although I was both grateful and ungrateful for how my friends corrected me that time, I can't help wondering how I pass my reading subjects in flying colors!
