Badly Written, Badly Spoken / Re: Commas and adverbs of degree

I've heard this before also, "Never use only one comma between a subject and its verb." I was taught early on when I asked my English tutor about this rule and he told me to pretend that I never read about it. LOL

Speaking of ads with improper grammar usage... I saw a TV commercial for Chuck-e-cheese here the USA, (for those of you unfamiliar with this business, it's a place where young children can go to to play games and have parties) and they keep saying "cheese is funner" throughout the commercial. It sickens me that anyone would purposely speak like this to our children and further damage their language skills.

Badly Written, Badly Spoken / Re: A comma before 'which'
« on: December 29, 2012, 05:25:00 AM »
I tend to be "comma happy", or so I've been told, and use commas excessively sometimes, unsure of when really they should or should not be used. As a general rule, I typically use a comma any time I would pause if I were verbally speaking the sentence (and of course there are other reasons for which I use a comma). Is this how I should be placing my commas?

Wow this post had so much information. I often wonder when speaking and writing if I should be leaving the article out to sound more natural. Thank you so much for all of your help Jose.
