Word misuse and mistake are one and the same thing. Some words sound so similar, it's easy to confuse or misuse them when writing. Computer spell check won't even catch these mistake. For example the words like affect and effect, though they have different meaning, cannot be recognized as mistake by spell check. Word error simply refer to the spelling mistake in a word.
