McMahon says, “Every age, and every culture, has its heroes of the mind… (who) serve as painful reminders of our own inadequacies.” Even it that were so, isn't it devoutly to be desired that the Philippines had at least a few authentic, self-effacing political geniuses to lead the country at this precarious juncture in its national life?
