Is it correct to say "celebrator" when referring to someone who celebrates his birthday?

Sometime in 2011, during a birthday party that I attended, someone who had called the party host a "celebrant" was excoriated by a grammar purist for his word choice and was pointedly told that he should have used "celebrator" instead. I think the essay that I wrote about the often-asked question on the "celebrant vs. celebrator" usage will give you a clear idea of what I think about it. To read the essay, simply click this link to "Settling the often-derided usage of 'celebrant' once and for all."
